Corrs Set New Records

The Corrs' 'In Blue' is well on it's way to becoming the most successful Irish album of all time, within three weeks of it's release. Already the collection has hit the No1 spot in a massive thirteen territories, as well as going top five in a host of other.

"The reaction has been phenomenal. Obviously we were very optimistic that the album would do very well, but I think the scale of it is hugely exciting" a band spokesperson told Hot press.

So far 'In Blue' has been No1 in Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines and Australia. It was also No2 within two weeks of it's release in France, Portugal and New Zealand, and has sold in excess of 2 million copies world-wide.

In Ireland the album has gone six times platinum, clocking up a staggering 90,000 sales to date. With four albums in the charts, in one week the Dundalk high-fliers clocked up no less that 30% of all album sales in their home country.

The Corrs' US campaign is also gathering momentum. The single 'Breathless', which gave them their first UK singles chart topper, is being released to radio there this week. Promotional appearances have already been scheduled for all the major chat shows, including David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno and Rosie O'Donnell and the band will be based in the States from August 22nd to mid-October in a concerted plush to secure the success of 'In Blue' in the only remaining major territory which has yet to succumb completely to the charms of the outfit.

Back in this part of the world, the follow up to 'Breathless' has been decided. Another song co-written by Andrea and Mutt Lange, 'Irresistible' has been slotted for a September 18th release.

"It's a love song but it's tongue in cheek," Andrea says. "There's a bit of flattery in there! We started it in Mutt's house, and then went up into the forest with his guitar and finished it."

While the band's touring plans are being consolidated, no decisions have been made yet regarding Irish dates - though the summer of 2001 seems like a safe bet. Watch this space!
